Executive Director and Treasurer - Dave Dart
Dave has been engaged in various aspects of the music business for more than six years, serving as co-crewchief of the
SXSW Music Conference and Festival International Housing Program, assistant on a special project for the
Texas Rockfest/Quadruple Bypass Music Festival, and producer of events such as the 2006
Elktoberfest and 2008 International Night at Friends on Sixth Street.
Dave earned a Master's Degree with distinction in 1993 from Boston University, studying exclusively at their campuses in
Germany and Belgium. As an undergraduate he earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1988 with a Spanish minor and served as an
officer in several Spanish conversation clubs. For the past decade he worked as a Systems Analyst at the University of Texas,
a position he left to found DMI. Other notable work experience includes teaching for Big Bend Community College and
serving as Communications Director for the Overseas Education Association in Germany.
President - Greg R. Ellis
Greg is a Marketing Director for
Blue Corn Music group, and has been actively involved in the music
industry for over thirty years.
Vice President - Michael T. Sammon
Mike is co-owner of
Lonestar Family Market, a WIC-only store that addresses the needs
of many low-income families in the Austin community. He earned his degree in Maritime Studies from Texas A&M
University in 1991. He has lived and worked in countries such as Norway, Spain, Angola, Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada, and
Germany. Mike has also been a volunteer with the SXSW International Housing program since 2003, assisting with vital
logistics and transportation issues.
Secretary - Tami Stout
Tami holds positions of leadership and responsibility with some of the largest cultural events in the United States. Since
2003 she has held the three-headed position of Volunteer, Intern, and Cashier Coordinator for
South by Southwest Conferences and Festivals in Austin. In addition to her
responsibility for coordinating the 1,500 volunteers who make SXSW possible, she also executes pre- and post-event logistics,
oversees all the activities of the festival's 150 cashiers, and performs duties ranging from television promotion to
administrative reporting. In addition, Tami is an Event Manager for
Zaring Cioffi Entertainment in Valencia, CA. In this capacity she is
responsible for the overall operations of all ZCE events throughout the U.S. She also has professional experience with
American Capital of Culture, Two River Canyon, and Direct Events, W3 Events, Capital Sports and Entertainment (CSE)
and C3 Entertainment in Austin.
Director - Patricia Albright
Patricia, a native Austinite, worked at the award-winning advertising agency GSD&M for almost ten years. In that
capacity, she provided strong negotiation and analytical skills in the placement of radio and television commercial airtime
across the country for clients such as AT&T, BMW and MasterCard. Prior to finding and establishing a rewarding career in
advertising, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and moved to
San Francisco only to realize that she "left her heart" in Austin. Upon returning, she worked for four years at the Office of
the Attorney General in the Budget and Purchasing Division. In addition to her professional life, Patricia has a passion for
the Austin community, particularly the arts. Current and past involvements include memberships in Arthouse, Elk's Lodge,
Harry Ransom Center, Austin Film Society, and leadership roles as Austin Film Festival Associate Producer, The Blanton
Museum ArtBuffs founding board member, The Charles Moore Foundation Guild board, KLRU Associate Producer,
"Project Early Word" reading initiative board member, Texas Book Festival volunteer and a loyal South by Southwest Music
Conference volunteer. In her spare time, Patricia enjoys reading, film, travel, arts and heated conversations with friends.
Director - Matthew Covey
Matthew is the treasurer for
Tamizdat, a nonprofit organization that is committed to fostering the free
exchange of information and ideas between artists, audiences, and industry. Tamizdat works to build international
communities by bridging the cultural and economic gaps that separate American and Western Europe from Central and
Eastern Europe. To do this, Tamizdat has created an interlocking program of projects aimed at providing the foundations
and the framework for cultural cross-pollination between artists, music industry personnel, and most importantly, between
audiences everywhere.
