International Night At Friends On Sixth Street

At a time in our history when cross cultural understanding is critical to the immediate future of our country, a cutting edge Texas organization will be showcasing bands from around the world from as far away as Tehran and New Delhi to Monterrey and Berlin, all under one roof, and FOR FREE.

Dart Music International will presenting "International Night at Friend's on Sixth Street" in Austin at Friends Bar on 6th Street on Tuesday, March 11th 2008. This event will feature 6 bands from countries around the world and will be digitally recorded for live CDs and DVDs. Admission is free.

The bands Showcased at this international event will be 127 (One Twenty Seven) and Hypernova, both from Tehran, Iran, Lily Electric from Berlin, Germany, Menwhopause from New Delhi, India, Mockinpott from Monterrey, Mexico, and Telerama from Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.

The mission of Dart Music International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is to enrich the culture of Texas by exposing patrons of the arts to other cultures. We do this by eliminating the logistical difficulties associated with international travel for each of our artists so they can have the best possible opportunity to achieve their own artistic and professional goals.

"We do this because we feel it's important to continually expose ourselves to other cultures through the universal language of music," said Dave Dart, the founder of Dart International. "Young musicians in other parts of the world have the same hopes and dreams as anyone in Austin. When you can dance to someone's music, it's suddenly a lot easier to embrace the culture that makes it."

Dart International is partnering with other non-profits across the world, like Beyond Persia in California and Tamizdat in Prague/New York City to help bring the world to Texas.
