3rd Annual Dart Music International Night at Friends on Sixth Street
On Tuesday, March 16 we hosted another outstanding showcase of great international indie rock bands at our 3rd Annual Dart Music International Night at Friends on Sixth Street. Six bands, Five continents, and One common language - rock & roll! This is was strongest lineup yet, with some of the most important bands from the emerging Chinese and Central European music scenes, Latin Rock giants, and college radio chart-toppers. Two of the bands, Bang Bang Eche and Carsick Cars, have even been picked up by MTV Iggy as two of "The 25 Best New Bands In The World".
We want to give special thanks to Randall Squires and Ed Miles, the sound team who made it happen, and Rosy Lea for her incredible photography (she actually shuttled between this and another show). Can't wait for 2011!

Listen: "Mas De Lo Mismo"
Watch: "Cruzando Todo El Mar"
L.Stadt
"Great pop songs. Hang on a second! - Is this actually Pop? But what is the definition of Pop? If it's melodic music which is easy on the ear, presented in
an accessible, short format - then it can be described as Pop... Intentionally rough around the edges, reminiscent of a demo CD sound. Hats off to the band
for this decision. On the L.Stadt album every song sounds different."
- Debut album review, Don't Panic We Are From Poland
From: Lodz, Poland
Genre: Indie, Alternative
Touchstones: Sonic Youth, Ryan Adams, Air

Listen: "Superstar"
Watch: "March"
Carsick Cars
"Sonic Youth and the Clean both released worthy albums this year, but these three Beijing kids in their early 20s took those bands' classic guitar-drone
sounds and made it pulse with the excitement of discovery."
- David Malitz, "Lists: David Malitz's top ten albums of 2009", The Washington Post
From: Beijing, China

Watch: "Mogu Mogu"
The Ganjas
"Within the stream of rock bands around, there is certainly one that stands out for their sound exploration and having a unique concept that has
converted them in to the ultimate reference of 'independent rock': The Ganjas. The band even surprised British rock band Oasis."
- EMOL Staff, El Mercurio On Line Magazine
From: Santiago, Chile
Genre: Alternative Rock, Dub, Psychedelic
Touchstones: Jesus and Mary Chain, Sublime, Capsula

Listen: "Heart Of A Velvet Stone"
Watch: "Dark Side"
Bang Bang Eche
"With two EPs yielding a vast number of hits as well as several notable overseas gigs to their name, people seem fond of
terming Bang Bang Eche 'dance punk'. Which is all very well and good, but might be better understood as the imperative their live performance
implies: 'DANCE, PUNK!'"
- music.net.nz.
From: Christchurch, New Zealand
Genre: Danceable Punk, Electro-clash

Snapline
"Within a year the Maybe Mars record label had appeared, and now they're signing bands like nobody's business. Their roster includes Carsick Cars,
a moderately angry rocky favorite around town, alongside Snapline - an insight into what the late Joy Division would have been if they had money
for fancier electric instruments."
- Matthew Jukes, "Record Dealer", Global Times
From: Beijing, China
Genre: Post-punk
Touchstones: Joy Division, Fad Gadget, Birthday Party
